Geneva, 13 & 14 September 2019
This two-day program offers an in-depth exploration of the evolving landscape of the ICC, one of the world’s leading arbitration institutions. With significant updates shaping how ICC arbitrations are conducted, participants will gain insight into the strategies necessary to be effective counsels and arbitrators. Led by a distinguished panel of instructors, including seasoned ICC practitioners, insiders with first-hand knowledge of recent developments, and scholar-practitioners who provide expert analysis, the course covers all stages of an ICC arbitration procedure.
Participants will acquire practical skills and actionable strategies, enabling them to navigate the complexities of ICC arbitrations with confidence. By the end of the course, they will have a comprehensive understanding of recent and upcoming changes, as well as the ability to effectively advise clients on ICC arbitration proceedings. A certificate of attendance is awarded upon completion.

This two-day program offers professionals involved in international arbitration a comprehensive understanding of the role and work of financial expert witnesses. The course covers key topics such as accounting principles, businesses in distress, and loss valuation, while also addressing effective oral communication.
Designed for those facing complex and challenging cases, course participants will hone skills needed to advise clients on potential strengths and weaknesses in financial claims or defenses, to critically review their own expert witness draft report, or to plan cross-examination.. Participants will be better equipped to ask informed questions to opposing parties about their reported potential litigation liabilities, be able to recognize businesses facing terminal decline, and learn to use their voice and presentation skills to make compelling arguments before arbitral tribunals. A certificate of attendance is awarded upon completion.
Suitable for lawyers, litigation funders, in-house counsel, and public sector professionals who work with arbitration.
The program is led by Geoffrey Senogles, a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience of testifying as a financial expert witness in investment treaty, commercial and sports arbitrations and who previously worked on mass claims resolution in the United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC). Over the years, he has also acted as non-executive director for several companies and as vice president and partner in international consulting firms. He is now a partner in Senogles & Co- external link, near Geneva and has been delivering training to lawyers for over a decade.
The session on communication will be led by John Zimmer, Barrister & Solicitor; Professional Public Speaker. For many years, John practiced corporate commercial and environmental law with Fasken Martineau, one of Canada's largest firms. In 1998, he moved to Geneva and has worked at the United Nations and the World Health Organisation. He is now a full-time speaker, giving keynotes, emceeing events, and helping companies communicate more effectively.

The international energy sector makes up the largest portfolio of international arbitrations in the world today. The overall number of disputes submitted to arbitration has grown, raising all sorts of complex issues specific to the sector. This three-day program offers an advanced introduction to the specificities of international arbitration in the context of energy-related disputes, by providing its participants the working knowledge and tools to initiate or resist energy-related arbitration claims. More specifically, the program helps participants understand the unique challenges and potential pitfalls of investment and commercial arbitration in the energy sector, and how to effectively advise clients both before disputes arise and during energy-related arbitrations. Participants will also learn practical advocacy and drafting skills from leading practitioners, and benefit from insights shared by top academics and professionals from major law firms. A certificate of attendance is awarded upon completion.
